GOLDCHILD
The Listening Lab | San Diego
The Listening Lab is where coffee, music, and culture meet daily. Fresh Swedish pastries baked every morning. Competition-worthy coffee roasted in-house. Vinyl, hip-hop, R&B, Motown, and conversations shared across the bar. Designed as an experience of hospitality, quality, and education — meeting people wherever they are in their coffee journey through specialty coffee and sound.

Our Philosophy & Mission
Coffee is Timeless
Goldchild was built on the belief that specialty coffee should feel welcoming, not exclusive. Inspired by the music that raised us and the cultures that shaped us, we approach coffee through hospitality, education, and quality.
Coffee moves across cultures and generations — bringing people together in ways that feel personal, yet universal. Through the practice of fika, we create space to slow down, be present, and leave the stress of the outside world outside of the lab.
Above all, we our mission is to make everyone feel seen, heard, welcomed, and understood.
Meet the Founders
Jeff Rambo
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Jeff Rambo was shaped by West Coast hip-hop culture long before stepping into specialty coffee. A culture rooted in rhythm, storytelling, and expression continues to influence the way he approaches coffee, hospitality, and community today.
After falling in love with specialty coffee in 2012, Jeff began home roasting and roasting, eventually leading to the creation of Goldchild Coffee Roasters — a space built around culture, connection, and making specialty coffee feel welcoming rather than exclusive.
Over the last decade, Jeff has become known for combining competition-level coffee standards with a deeply human approach to hospitality. As the 2025 U.S. AeroPress Champion, he approaches coffee with precision, consistency, and an obsession with honoring the stories behind every cup.
Ela Mosquera
Born and raised in Sweden, Ela Mosquera brings a deeply personal approach to hospitality, design, and fika through Goldchild Coffee Roasters.
With over a decade in interior and hospitality design, Ela developed an eye for creating spaces rooted in warmth, intention, and human connection. That same philosophy now lives throughout Goldchild — from the atmosphere of the cafe to the pastries inspired by her Swedish upbringing.
For Ela, hospitality has always been about caring for people. Through fika, coffee, conversation, and thoughtful service, she believes in creating moments that bring people together and make them feel at home.
As the creative force behind Goldchild’s atmosphere and pastry program, Ela helped shape the cafe into a reflection of the culture, music, and experiences that inspired it.
