Luis Ernesto Guzmán – Washed Yirgacheffe - Colombia
At Finca La Luisa in Trujillo, Valle del Cauca, fifth-generation producer Luis Ernesto Guzman Giraldo approaches coffee as both inheritance and artform. What began as a return home during the pandemic has evolved into a pursuit of excellence that bridges generations—combining his family’s legacy of cultivation with his own precision-driven experimentation. Guided by his mother’s deep agricultural knowledge and the scientific mentorship of biologists from the University of Valle, Luis continues to uncover new expressions of Colombian terroir.
His Washed Yirgacheffe is a rare interpretation—an Ethiopian heirloom variety reimagined in Colombian soil. Cherries are carefully hand-sorted, fermented, and washed to showcase the variety’s inherent brightness and elegance. The result is a cup that shimmers with floral aromatics, champagne-like effervescence, and notes of pineapple and watermelon. It’s a luminous coffee that embodies Luis’s vision: heritage transformed through innovation, tradition refined into art.
